itermon control panel (Chrome extension) — effective 17 August 2026

The itermon control panel extension collects nothing, sends nothing anywhere, and has no server of ours to send it to. It talks only to software running on your own computer.

What the extension does

itermon control panel is a browser front end for itermon, an open-source command-line tool you install and run yourself. itermon runs a small web server on your own machine (by default at 127.0.0.1:8765) that can list your terminal sessions and run scheduled commands against them. The extension reads from and writes to that local server, and nothing else.

Data we collect

None. VecTech Limited operates no server for this extension, receives no data from it, and has no way to identify you or count you. There is no account, no login, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no advertising.

Data the extension stores on your device

Stored locally through Chrome's extension storage, on your computer only:

• Your settings — the host and port of your own itermon server, how often to check it, and which alerts you want.
• A “seen it already” marker — enough about the most recent log entry it has told you about to avoid alerting you twice for the same failure.

This never leaves your device. Removing the extension removes it.

Data the extension reads

While running, the extension reads from your local itermon server: your terminal sessions' names and identifiers, your scheduled jobs, and itermon's activity log. This is displayed to you and used to decide whether to raise an alert. It is read from your machine and shown on your machine. It is never transmitted anywhere.

Network access

The extension can only reach http://127.0.0.1/* and http://localhost/* — your own computer. Those permissions are declared in its manifest and enforced by Chrome. It contacts no other host, loads no remote code and includes no third-party libraries.

Access to your browsing

None. The extension declares no content scripts and does not request access to your tabs or to any website. It cannot see the pages you visit, your history, your cookies, or anything you type outside its own popup.

Permissions and why

• alarms — to wake up periodically and check whether a scheduled command failed.
• notifications — to show you a desktop alert when one has.
• storage — to remember the two things listed above.
• access to 127.0.0.1 / localhost — to talk to your own itermon server.

Children

The extension is a developer tool and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
